Die Millionenshow (English translation: The millions show) is an Austrian game show based on the original British format of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?. The show is hosted by Armin Assinger from 2002 to today. The main goal of the game is to win €1,000,000 (originally öS10,000,000 [€726,728]) by answering 15 multiple-choice questions correctly. There are usually three lifelines - Fifty Fifty (Fünfzig-Fünfzig), Phone A Friend (Telefon) and Ask The Audience (Publikumsjoker), but if the contestants want to play an altered version of the game, a fourth lifeline is added - Additional joker (Zusatzjoker), but when a contestant decides that he wants this lifeline, the second milestone in the money tree (€15,000) is removed. When a contestant chooses to have this joker, he/she can guess two times, which means that if they use this lifeline, they are allowed to answer the question wrong, and then they may still guess a second time; this is similar to the "Double Dip" lifeline in other countries' versions of the show.

The show first aired irregularly in January 2000, with six episodes which all were broadcast within one week and were hosted by singer Rainhard Fendrich. This was considered as a trial run to see if the show is liked by the Austrian audience. Since this first series was sponsored by the Austrian lottery, the show's title was chosen to be Alles ist möglich - Die 10-Millionen Show (in English: Everything is possible - The ten millions show), because the phrase Alles ist möglich is an advertising slogan of the Austrian lottery. After the first six episodes had aired, and were a big success in ratings, the ORF ordered another set of episodes. However, host Rainhard Fendrich did not agree to host any more episodes for the offered payment. Hence, a new host had to be found, as well as a new sponsor since the Austrian lottery did not renew the contract for the new episodes.
In May 2000 the show returned on screens with the new title Die Millionenshow. The show's new host was Barbara Stöckl who in fact was the first female host of any version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? around the world. After the show was broadcast irregularly again during the summer of 2000, it then was picked up to air regularly on Thursdays, Saturdays, Fridays as of late fall of 2000. As of fall 2001, the episodes on Thursdays were moved to Mondays, to compete with the German version (Wer wird Millionär?) which also aired on Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays, and can be received in Austria.
In the last show of 2001, which aired on the 30th of December, the currency was changed to the Euro. In May 2002 it was announced that Barbara Stöckl was not going to return in the upcoming season. Hence, during the summer break the ORF organized a casting with ten possibles successors for hosting the show, and in the end Alpine skier and sports commentator Armin Assinger was chosen to be the new host. Since then, there have been no more remarkable changes, besides from that the show is only shown twice a week since fall 2007 (Friday and Monday).
The executive producer of game show is nobeo GmbH.
The show is taped at the same set as the German version, in Cologne, Germany. The early episodes (until late fall 2000) were taped at the Dutch set in Hilversum, Holland, as well as the German show. The ORF once considered building an own set in Austria, but this was deemed too expensive.
